London Travel Guide for Kids…What To See & Do

If you’re heading to the capital of the UK, you’ll no doubt want to know what you can see and do.

London is a huge city and it’s pretty easy to be overwhelmed by how much there is to take in. With that in mind, you need to do some research ahead of time. When traveling with children, that’s even more important!

Let’s check out some of the best things to do in London with kids

London Eye

If you have children who don’t mind heights, this is the best way to see London. On a clear day, you can see for miles! It’s a good idea to book your tickets online ahead of time, as the queues on the day can be pretty lengthy.

London Aquarium

The weather in London isn’t always reliable, and in that case you should head indoors and visit the Sea Life London Aquarium. Packed with fantastic up close and personal experiences with marine life, there are also interactive games and feeding sessions to check out.

Traditional Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea is a rite of passage in the UK and in London you’l find countless places that offer the service. However, Peggy Porschen offers the best child-friendly afternoon tea around. With their whimsical decor, and their delightful selections of cakes, sandwiches, and more, this is definitely not to be missed.

Hamley’s

Hamley’s is the oldest toy store in the world, so you can’t visit London and not go there! It is 6 levels high and has more toys than you can ever imagine.

A Show in The West End

If you can get tickets for one of the child-friendly West end shows, such as Frozen the musical or the Lion King, your kids will be in for a treat! Be sure to get your tickets from a reputable site or from the Box Office itself, to avoid ticket scalpers.

This isn’t in central London but it’s not far out of the city. If your children love Harry Potter, you can’t possibly visit London and not head here! You go behind the scenes at Hogwarts and get to check out how the film was made.

Natural History Museum

Again, this is a great spot to head to if the weather is less than kind and it’s also free! There are regular special exhibitions at the Natural History Museum and of course, you get to see the huge T-Rex skeleton in person.

Regents Park

Located between Westminster and Camden, Regents Park is a huge open air spot, ideal for running around, playing sports, having a picnic and checking out the scenery. You’ll also find London Zoo here.
