Can you imagine being a budding fashion designer, catching the eye of none other than Vera Wang, at just 9 years old?
That’s exactly the reality that Kaia Aragon is living right now!
In just the third grade, Kaia has become TikTok and beyond famous showcasing the super-trendy clothes she’s created and put together all by herself. With 30 pieces already in her collection, she boasts a huge 600,000 followers.
It All Started with a Sewing Machine
At the age of 5 years, Kaia was gifted her first sewing machine by her mother. From there, the only way was up.
Kaia immediately enjoyed using her new gadget and immediately set to making new items. The first thing she made was a kitten bed and then a wallet. From there, she turned her mind toward making clothes herself – at a prolific rate.
For a few weeks, she made a new outfit daily and while she’s had to slow things down since, her mind is constantly buzzing with new ideas. Kaia admits to finding her talent quite surprising herself and she can’t pinpoint any reason why she seems to be so great at designing, at such a young age.
Perhaps it boils down to her unique way of putting together designs. While most designers will sketch before they make another move, Kaia starts with the fabric and then builds upon it. It’s a novel way but it’s one that’s certainly working for her!
Kaia also admits to finding inspiration at every corner, often finding herself drawn to outfits seen in movies, especially Disney’s Encanto.
A Famous Stamp of Approval
While Kaia has been turning heads for a while, it all went stratospheric when none other than Vera Wang gave the seal of approval.
After seeing Kaia showing her designs on TikTok, the legendary designer sent her a top-quality sewing machine and a note that showed her excitement at the young designer’s progress so far. She also commented with a love heart on Kaia’s TikTok page!
You can imagine how thrilled Kaia and her mother were about the acknowledgement, not to mention the fancy sewing machine. Yet, the humorous thing is that Kaia didn’t actually know who Vera Wang was until she did a Google search! As soon as she realized she was dealing with fashion royalty, she was blown away.

The Future is Bright Indeed
At just 9 years of age, Kaia has a very long and bright fashion future in front of her. She’s already mentioned that she would like to start a business with her best friend, and she might be set to take over the fashion world sooner than you think.
All of this goes to show that age doesn’t matter when talent is natural and true. It’s certainly inspiring and makes you dream about the potential of the younger generations!
