Brand Spotlight: ALANUI

In 2016, Alanui began its journey by creating a unique collection centered around a single piece: the Cardigan. With an array of patterns and colors, this garment was meant to be a warm and emotion-filled companion that would follow its wearer throughout their lifetime. The name “Alanui” translates to “large path” in Hawaiian, embodying the idea of a garment that is not just clothing, but a pathway to new experiences and adventures.

The Cardigan, much like a white canvas, is an artwork in itself. It is continuously reinterpreted to reflect the emotion and journey of its wearer, with ever-changing patterns, colors, materials, and knitting techniques. Alanui’s designs celebrate Italian craftsmanship by combining creativity, premium quality fabrics, and meticulous attention to detail.

Crafted with the finest cashmere, each oversized cardigan is made from four to seven different yarns and takes between five to seven hours to knit and another six to assemble. This dedication and patience are invested to ensure a luxury garment that will last a lifetime and become a cherished companion on all your travels.

Inside each Alanui cardigan, you’ll find a Saint Christopher medal, the patron saint of travelers on land, sea, and air. This hidden lucky charm is both an embellishment and a reminder of the garment’s vocation as a travel companion. Wearing an image of a saint, whether as a medal or sewn-in image, is an old tradition that was later adopted by the surfer culture.

Alanui is committed to sustainability and is continually researching and implementing new methods to lower the environmental impact of each collection. This includes sourcing materials that are certified and responsible, choosing materials from circular systems, and moving away from non-renewable sources.

Alanui’s “Consciously Crafted” products use over 50% conscious materials that are certified by third parties, such as recycled cashmere, organic cotton, naturally eco-friendly linen, recycled nylon, and certified responsible leather. The “Exclusively Regenerated” items are Alanui’s crowning achievement in minimizing its environmental footprint. These items are almost entirely made from regenerated fiber, with 95% from cashmere deadstock and the remaining 5% wool necessary to stabilize the regenerated thread. This reduces the need to rely on new resources to an absolute minimum.

Alanui is committed to expanding the life cycle of its products, reducing their environmental impact, and shipping its cardigans in a special bag that allows them to be stored horizontally rather than hung. This prevents potential deformation and extends their lifespan. With a long-lasting Alanui piece, you can embark on new adventures and create unforgettable memories while knowing that you’re making a positive impact on the environment.
